Scope	As a new association, IAjapan has inherited its activities from the Internet Association of Japan (IAJ) and the Electronic Network Consortium (ENC), IAjapan is planning to conduct more extensive activities than before.
Activity	Holding seminars regarding the latest Internet technologies and trends Deployment of filtering software and development/operation of rating systems Various working group activities Training human resources Development and demonstration regarding Internet technologies Promoting the standardization of Internet technologies Coordinating with other standard bodies regarding Internet technologies Research on Internet trends Secretariat of Internet Hotline Expert Network Cooperation with international Internet organizations such as W3C, IETF, ISOC, ICANN, APIA, APNG

History
March 1991	Established Japan Networking Association (JNA)
April 1992	Launched Electronic Network Consortium (ENC)
December 1993	Established Internet Association of Japan (IAJ)
September 1996	Established Java Conference (Java-Conf)
June 2000	Japan Networking Association (JNA) and Java Conference (Java-Conf) were merged after they were absorbed into the Internet Association of Japan (IAJ)
August 2000	Started consideration of incorporation at "The New Incorporated Association Preliminary Committee"
October 2000	Started legitimate consideration of incorporation at "New Incorporated Association Review Committee", "Project review working group"and "Secretariat meeting"
March 2001	Established Internet Association Japan (IAjapan)
April 2001	Electronic Network Consortium (ENC) and Internet Association of Japan (IAJ) were consolidated as IAjapan
July 2001	Legally permitted by Ministry of Public Management, Home Affairs, Posts and Telecommunications, and Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry
